Custom View Permissions for Team-managed/Next-gen projects
By default, custom permissions are disabled, so anyone who can see an issue can also use Tick features. To enable more advanced control, follow the steps below.
Open Tick Permissions
Go to Jira → Manage Apps, and in the sidebar, click Permissions under the Tick app section.
Enable View Permissions
By default, View Permissions
are disabled to simplify onboarding. To control who can view checklists and tasks, enable the View Permissions
checkbox.
Navigate to Project settings
On the left side, find your projects. Click the three dots to the right of the project name, and then select Project Settings
.
Manage roles
In the project settings, click on the Access
link on the left. Once the page opens, look in the top right corner for Manage roles
and click it.
Create a New Role
A window will pop up. Click the Create role
button. Remember, in Team-managed (Next-Gen) projects, you cannot change the default roles. To use custom permissions, you need to create a new role and give it the permissions you want.
Name Your Role and Set Permissions
On the next screen, give your new role a Name and a Description. Then, click on the App permissions
tab. Here, you will find the custom permissions from Tick:
- View Tasks (Tick): Determine which project roles or groups can view checklists on issues.
- View Templates (Tick): Manage who can access and view checklist templates within the project.
Choose the custom permissions you want for this role. At the bottom of the window, you can add people or groups to this role by their email. Once you have added them, click Create
.
Seeing the Changes
Here's how it looks when you've set up the permissions. You can see you can add and remove tasks and tasklists, but the option to check them on/off is not available because of the current permissions.
Conclusion
While view permissions are good for showing the Tick checklists to only the right eyes, sometimes you need even finer control – who can actually change and manage those checklists and their templates. If that's the way your work flows, the next link below will guide you to setting those Manage Permissions
just how you need them.
