By default, custom permissions are disabled, so anyone who can see an issue can also use Tick features. To enable more advanced control, follow the steps below.

Seeing the Changes

Here's how it looks when you've set up the permissions. You can see you can add and remove tasks and tasklists, but the option to check them on/off is not available because of the current permissions.

Conclusion

By tailoring the Tick app's permissions, you've gained the power to fine-tune how your teams interact with checklists and templates within Jira. This means smoother workflows, clearer responsibilities, and the right level of access for everyone involved.

Remember, the most effective permission setup often evolves with your team's needs. Don't hesitate to revisit these settings as your projects and collaborations change.

Here are a few friendly recommendations as you continue your journey:

  • Start Simple: If you're new to custom permissions, begin by adjusting the 'View' permissions to control who can see your checklists. You can always add more granular 'Manage' permissions later.
  • Consider Roles: Think about the different roles within your teams and align the permissions with their responsibilities. This makes it easier to manage access and ensures everyone has what they need (and nothing they don't).
  • Communicate Changes: When you adjust permissions, let your team know! A quick message explaining the new access levels can prevent confusion and ensure a smooth transition.
  • Review Periodically: It's a good practice to check your permission settings every now and then to make sure they still fit your team's current way of working.
