Definition of Optional or Mandatory Tasks

In Tick, the concepts of "optional" and "mandatory" tasks are designed to provide flexibility in task management. Users have the ability to mark tasks as either optional or mandatory. This classification is primarily intended to indicate the priority level of each task.

Optional Tasks: These are tasks that are not critical and can be completed at a later time. Marking a task as optional suggests that it is of lower priority and can be postponed if necessary.

Mandatory Tasks: These tasks are essential and must be completed as soon as possible. Marking a task as mandatory indicates a higher priority and implies that it should be addressed without delay.

The distinction between optional and mandatory tasks does not affect any other functionality within the application. It simply serves as a tool for users to prioritize and manage their tasks more effectively. Users can validate tasks against these classifications later using the Validating that all mandatory tasks are finished validator.

How it works

For each task in Tick there is an option to mark it as either optional or mandatory. This option is represented by a question mark icon.

By default, every task is marked as mandatory. If you want to change a task to optional, simply click on the question mark icon. Once clicked, the question mark will become activated and will always be visible on the task, indicating that this specific task is now optional.

This feature helps users to easily distinguish between tasks that are high priority (mandatory) and those that can be postponed (optional).
